Lucknow: A high-level review meeting was held at Yojana Bhawan in Lucknow on Wednesday to assess the progress of various policies, schemes and programmes being implemented by the Uttar Pradesh Department of Information Technology and Electronics and to review the department’s role in achieving the state’s target of becoming a one-trillion-dollar economy. The meeting was chaired by Minister for Information Technology and Electronics Sunil Kumar Sharma.
The meeting reviewed the current status, achievements and future roadmap of the IT and electronics sector in line with the state’s economic growth target. Detailed discussions were held on the implementation of the IT Policy, Electronics Manufacturing Policy, Semiconductor Policy, Data Centre Policy, Startup Policy and provisions related to Global Capability Centres (GCCs).
The meeting also examined measures to attract investment in IT, electronics, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, data centres and startups, with a focus on generating employment and expanding economic activity across the state.
Sharma directed officials to ensure the effective and timely implementation of all departmental policies and schemes. He called for new initiatives and incentive schemes to be finalised and implemented within stipulated timelines so that investors, companies and young people in the state could derive maximum benefit.
The minister also emphasised investment promotion, employment generation, skill development and balanced technological growth across different regions of Uttar Pradesh. He stressed the need to accelerate and bring greater transparency to the approval of investment proposals, disbursement of incentives and implementation of projects.
Sharma said the IT and electronics sector has an important role in achieving the one-trillion-dollar economy target and directed all concerned sections and institutions to maintain close coordination and undertake regular reviews of implementation.
The meeting also discussed the department’s upcoming action plan, with officials instructed to expedite work against set targets to strengthen investment, innovation, employment and technological development in the state.
Principal Secretary, IT and Electronics Department, Alok Kumar; Special Secretary and Managing Director, UPDESCO, Akanksha Rana; Special Secretary and Managing Director, UPLC, Jasjit Kaur, along with senior departmental officials, attended the meeting.
